Question Title PerfectShare - vs - FTP
What are the differences between our own FTP site and PerfectShare?

The typical FTP is cumbersome and often confusing to users. Files are uploaded into a shared or common directory and you, or your customers and vendors login to sort it all out.

The only way to segregate users from one another, is to use what is termed "jailed" directories. This requires that when you upload files that are confidential, you must uploaded that file multiple times into user specific folders. Since each user is locked in his own directory, they have no opportunity to see others files.

This is a very time consuming process.

Accepting incoming data is equally cumbersome. Your customer or vendor must upload the required files then, somehow notify you the files are available.

If your requirements are simple, perhaps FTP will do the job. However, it is extremely inefficient and things are prone to get dropped through the cracks. In fact, many of those in your supply chain may find it very unintuitive and difficult to use.

Conversely, the PerfectShare interface is designed to provide extremely powerful features yet, remain simplistic in it's usage. From the very start, it was designed to keep users and data isolated from one another yet, require the least amount of interaction from an administrative standpoint.

Files only need be uploaded once, yet they can be shared with as many users as needed, none of whom are even aware the other exists.

This ease of use can be demonstrated in the distribution of quote packages to vendors.

Prepare the quote package and upload it to your PerfectShare service. Click on the names of those users that you would like to respond to your RFQ. Then, select the quote package. Your done. Automatic notifications are sent to your vendors. PerfectShare will even mail you if  one of your vendors fails to pick up the RFQ in a timely fashion. The process is completely automated.

This means you get quicker responses to your quote requests yet, less effort goes into preparing, sending, and tracking the bids.

The bottom line being PerfectShare provides the automation that FTP cannot. PerfectShare is used to drive and expedite your business processes. Not simply to move data from point A to point B.
