We’ve been really busy behind the scenes, updating perfectshare and working toward our ever present goal of bringing you the best file sharing solution possible.

Some of the things we’ve been working on:

More frequent blog updates - We get so wrapped up in adding new features and accomodating our users needs that we have kind of slacked off in our writing. Over the coming months, expect some more tips and tricks, and more information about what’s going on with PerfectShare itself.

More support articles - We take support seriously, and in an effort to enable our customer to help themselves on the rare occasion they need it, we’ve been working on beefing up our support area, the new content and these changes should be live soon.

Multiple PerfectShare updates - We’ve been incorporating your ideas on how to further streamline your communication and data sharing experiance with us. We are in the process of updating code everywhere to bring you a new improved file viewer, more control of your site w/ an extensive update to the admins settings page, improved team support, and as always squashed bugs.

As always, we’re working day and night to get all this new stuff live and to you, the user. We have alot of big stuff planned, and alot of stuff we’re rolling out now, so keep your eyes open!

Creating and Using Teams

In cases where you find yourself sharing files or images with the same group of users over and over again, you may find it more efficient to create a Team. A Team is a collection or group of users. A Team may contain as few as one, or multiple users. Once the Team is created, you may then select the Team in a single mouse click as opposed to selecting users one by one.

How to Create a Team and share files...

Begin by selecting User page. Once there, click 'Add New Team' located in the lower right hand corner of the page.

In the popup window you will be able to name the team, add users, and then save. The Team is now active. Next we will walk through sharing data with the Team.

Step 1

Go to the Access Control page and select the desired team.

Step 2

Upon clicking the Manage Access button, you will see the Files page. Once there, select the file or group of files you wish to share. Then, click the Add Access button (not shown here) at the bottom or side of the page.

Step 3

Click the Add Access button shown in Step 2 will take you to the Confirmation page. Once there you will have an opportunity to review and confirm your selections. You may also select how you wish to handle the email notifications. By default, all user or Team Members are automatically notified by email. Once you are comfortable with your selections, click Confirm and Add Access as the final step in the file sharing process.

The Team and file selection process are now complete. That's it! You're done. Easy, wasn't it!

Messaging and Comments

Ever since our first release PerfectShare has had a built in viewer in the File Manager. The viewer contained a mini-message system which was intended to allow people to exchange comments and ideas. After 3 years of a constant presence in our product, we noticed that people used the mini-messenger infrequently. Yet, at the same time, web based messaging systems were enjoying substantial growth. The bottom line being that either the current messaging system was too difficult to use or, not full featured enough for the needs of our customers.

So.. we set off to develop a messaging system comprised of the 'best in class' for every feature we offered. Here is the result.

The PerfectShare Messaging system includes:

Unlimited text length message area

Commenting by any number of users

Ability to group message into Folders

Assign authorized users to messages

Automatic email notifications

Images show as thumbnails

Thumbnails can also be seen full size

Common sense, easy to use features that make exchanging files, images, and comments a breeze. Attach images and they appear as small thumbnails. Click on a thumbnail and it will expand to full size for reviewing. Right to download. You can also maximize multiple files at a time for comparison. When messages or responses are created, the contents are automatically emailed as well as recorded in the thread.

Organize your messages into folders and sub folders. Share messages with users or groups of users (teams).

The feature list goes on and on. Sign up to try it for yourself.

Seems like everybody has a blog. We’re hoping ours becomes a meaningful point of reference. What’s Our Story?Starting the new PerfectShare blog got me thinking about our story, and how you as a customer or potential customer might see us “from the outside”. For those who don’t know, PerfectShare was started by myself, Mike Roberts, because I was frustrated with the lack of an affordable, web-based method for transferring files and collaborating / communicating with my customer base. (This was way back in 2001).As time has progressed we’ve come to stand for usable, powerful and affordable web based software that allows individuals and companies to easily share files and images with other individuals and companies. What’s Our Philosophy? If we as people like to purchase products from companies with whom we relate, then wouldn’t it also be fair to assume that people will buy more from you if you can give them a value proposition and a set of ideas to relate to?Why your company is different to your competitors. As an example, we take direct featured requests from our customers and add them into new product releases. You can see this in action in each and every release. What you stand for as a company. Will you put profit ahead of anything else, or are you more concerned about making every customer happy? Will you go out of your way to personally thank a customer for his/her business or will you get someone else to do it?How your company started. Are you one of two people who started your company from scratch in a garage? Did it start because you were fed up with your competitor’s products? One important thing to remember is to never, ever lie to your customers or prospects. Your number one asset as a business owner is the trust of your customers, because that can translate into loyalty which translates into an increased lifetime value for each customer that comes your way. That’s who we are and how we think.
